The Search Engine Friendly World of; Web Design, Linking Strategy, and Internet Marketing Is Fundamentally Tied to the concepts of; CSS and XHTML Standards Compliance. The Purpose of A CSS Layout Is to Separate The Presentation From The Content.

The reason that CSS was originally Developed was; In order to cut out a ton of extra presentational code from each web page. We use the XHTML doc-type to create containers around the content in the HTML, and CSS to apply the desired page layout as well as render frameset's using CSS in advanced applications. CSS started out as a way for webmasters to gain control over presentational markup site wide, by editing one document (the external CSS file) as apposed to needing to edit every page on a site individually. Who could ask for anything more? Well as it turns out there are some added bonuses to be gained from separating The Presentation from the content: It Allows The Search Engine Spiders To Crawl Faster and Index More - And That is sure to Increase a sites worthiness to be ranked well amongst it's competition in the Search Results.

How can I create a SEARCH ENGINE PROMOTION friendly site?

Are you using asp? PHP? JSP? Or is it just static html?
Dose the site have dynamic urI's (with question marks, equal signs, and/or other string variables)?
If so what kind of server is it on? Windows? Apache? You may need to do a URL re-write if it is a database driven web site.

Things to do

Our webmaster guidelines provide general design, technical, and quality guidelines. Below are more detailed tips for creating a "Google friendly" site.

Give visitors the information they're looking for

Provide high-quality content on your pages, especially your homepage. This is the single most important thing to do. If your pages contain useful information, their content will attract many visitors and entice webmasters to link to your site. In creating a helpful, information-rich site, write pages that clearly and accurately describe your topic. Think about the words users would type to find your pages and include those words on your site. Yahoo! and MSN do produce substantial traffic for competitive keywords as well.

RULE # 1 GET INBOUND LINKS
Submit your site to reputable directory's! Preferably directory's that are only listing links and info about your web site's specific industry.

Make sure that other sites link to yours

Links help our crawlers find your site and can give your site greater visibility in our search results. When returning results for a search, Google combines Page Rank (our measure of a page's importance) with sophisticated text-matching techniques to display pages that are both important and relevant to each search. Google counts the number of votes a page receives to determine its Page Rank, interpreting a link from page A to page B as a vote by page A for page B. Votes cast by pages that are themselves "important" weigh more heavily and help to make other pages "important." Please note that ranking of sites in our search results is completely automated, and we don't manually assign keywords to sites.

RULE # 3 DO NOT GET BAD LINKS
YOU DO NOT WANT A DIVERSITY PARADE OF INBOUND LINKS!!!
SEGERAGATION IS GOOD IN THE WORLD OF RECRIPRICAL LINKING!!!!

Keep in mind that our algorithms can distinguish natural links from unnatural links. Natural links to your site develop as part of the dynamic nature of the web when other sites find your content valuable and think it would be helpful for their visitors. Unnatural links to your site are placed there specifically to make your site look more popular to search engines. Some of these types of links (such as link schemes and doorway pages) are covered in our webmaster guidelines.

RULE # 4 THE GOAL IS TO TRADE LINKS WITH ONLY SITES THAT ARE ABOUT EXAXTLY THE SAME THING AS YOUR SITE!!!!!

Only natural links are useful for spider indexing and the subsequent ranking of your site.

Make your site easily accessible
Build your site with a logical link structure. Every page should be reachable from at least one static text link.

RULE # 5 AS MANY, WELL INDEXED, SITES AS YOU CAN !!! MAKE SURE THE PAGES THAT LINK TO YOU ARE IN THE INDEX'S AND THAT THE PAGES ARE MEANINGFUL OR INFORMATIVE IN SOME WAY OTHER THAN JUST A LINK PAGE!!!!

Use a text browser, such as Lynx, to examine your site. Most spiders see your site much as Lynx would. If features such as Java Script, cookies, session IDs, frames, DHTML, or Macromedia Flash keep you from seeing your entire site in a text browser, then spiders may have trouble crawling it.

RULE # 6 YOU DO WANT LINK TEXT TO BE AS DIVERSE AS YOUR WEB SITE'S MAIN KEYWORDS ARE.

Consider creating static copies of dynamic pages. Although the Google index includes dynamic pages, they comprise a small portion of our index. If you suspect that your dynamically generated pages (such as URI's containing question marks) are causing problems for our crawler, you might create static copies of these pages. If you create static copies, don't forget to add your dynamic pages to your robots.txt file to prevent us from treating them as duplicates.

RULE # 7 SO IF YOU HAVE 6 KEYWORDS ON THE HOME PAGE.
ROTATE THE LINK TEXT BEING SENT TO EACH RELEVENT RECRIPRICAL LINK TRADING PARTNER.

SENDING A UNIQUE HYPERTEXT PHRASE THAT HAS A MAIN KEYWORD WORKED IN TO IT FOR EACH OF THE LINK PARTNERS.
NOT SO MUCH TO BE INCONSPICIOUS BUT MORE TO BE PRACTICAL.

DON'T BE AFRAID TO WRITE HYPERTEXT IN A SENTANCE SO IT SEEMS LIKE THE SITE IS LINKING TO YOU FROM THEIR CONTENT AREA.

Things to Avoid

Don't fill your page with lists of keywords, attempt to "cloak" pages, or put up "crawler only" pages. If your site contains pages, links, or text that you don't intend visitors to see, Google considers those links and pages deceptive and may ignore your site.

Don't feel obligated to purchase a search engine optimization service. Some companies claim to "guarantee" high ranking for your site in Google's search results. While legitimate consulting firms can improve your site's flow and content, others employ deceptive tactics in an attempt to fool search engines. Be careful; if your domain is affiliated with one of these deceptive services, it could be banned from our index.

LINKS SHOULD BE ALMOST CONVERSATIONAL AND LESS OF THE OLD SEO STRATIGY OF: REPETIVE LINKS BACK WITH THE MAIN KEYWORD POINTING TO THE WEBSITES HOMEPAGE ONLY

GOOGLE LIKES TO SEE PEOPLE LINK TO YOUR SITE WITH A LARGE VARITY OF DIFFRENT LINK TEXT.

THE BEST METHOD I FIND IS TO SEND OUT SEPERATE KEYWORDS AND EVEN GET LINKS TO CERTIN PAGES ON YOUR SITE THAT SHOULD HAVE ATHOURITY AND BE RANKED AS WELL AS A PAGE WITH LINK TO IT!!!!

Don't use images to display important names, content, or links. Our crawler doesn't recognize text contained in graphics. Use ALT tags if the main content and keywords on your page can't be formatted in regular HTML.

REVIEW THE CATAGORYS IN EACH OF THE DIRECTORY BEFORE YOU SUBMIT YOUR SITE TO THEM.

Don't create multiple copies of a page under different URI's. Many sites offer text-only or printer-friendly versions of pages that contain the same content as the corresponding graphic-rich pages. To ensure that your preferred page is included in our search results, you'll need to block duplicates from our spiders using a robots.txt file. For information about using a robots.txt file, please visit the information provided below about blocking certain files or folders from the web crawlers like:

GoogleBot

Search Engine Software that is also well known as: A Search Engine "Spider" Because of the way the program is written to follow the links on each page and literally crawl through a huge number of the sites and pages that make up the entire world wide web. The three big Search Engines: MSN, Yahoo!, and Google all also save a copy of many web sites on their servers as a so called: "cached version" of a page.

* How do I add my site to Google's search results?

IF THERE IS NOT A SECTION FOR THE WEBSITES INDUSTRIE, THAT LINKS ONLY TO SITES LIKE YOURS.

Here Are The Common Issues That Need To Be Fixed In Order To Fully Optimize A Web Site

  • Most of the time people have java script and CSS embedded on each page that should be externalized.
  • Allot of times there will be drop downs or certain kinds of image rollovers in the navigation that is rendered using DHTML or using Java Script. These need to be replaced with links in lists in the HTML that uses CSS to achieve the rollover or drop down functionality.
  • Each page should have 3-5 keywords that actually describe the subject of the page. If you have a bunch of keywords that you want to rank for, but no pages with original content about the topic of those keywords - You Need to make a bunch of "info pages" specifically about the keywords you want to rank for. Minimum of 2 paragraphs of keyword relevant content per "info page".
  • Be sure to have a footer that links to each of the optimized pages using the pages first keyword as the link text (and title attribute). If this is too ugly for you, or you have like 50 optimized pages and the footer would just be way to honking big - you can use a single link button to hide them all (in an SEO friendly way) like I did for: zantaz.com (hover over the "Directory" link button on the footer to display the links to the optimized pages)
  • Each page should have an H1 with the main keyword in it (you can style it however you want using CSS by giving them a class or by just redefining H1 site wide - only if you don't use it anywhere currently).

REMEMBER::
The main job of an SEO company after they have optimized and cleaned up your web pages is for them to continue to grow your inbound links! You NEED lots of QUALITY (page rank 2 and above on the page that links to your site) RELEVANT (Must be linking from a page that is either not a links page at all - or is a links page that only links to other quality sites that are closely related to your site) inbound links. You need allot of quality inbound links for your optimization to have any chance of success. You can do all of the site optimization in the world & with out a solid link campaign it will not produce ANY rankings. basically: without links your site will NEVER rank for anything competitive.

Design With Css

The true beauty of CSS is the separation of content from presentational markup. Search engines like Google always rank web sites higher or lower based on whether or not it has clean code, is using a CSS based layout, has good internal and external linking, and features an easy-to-crawl navigation based on a logical site structure. Now I know all of that can sound like a daunting task, but no need to fear now that Google is looking out for us by bundling the site map, G-mail, analytics, and new PC search tools into one webmaster suit. The best part is that it comes directly from google and so of course using all of these tools on your site will help you in the rankings!

The big push in the last two or three years has been: the exclusive use of the table tag (the old school web designers basic building block) strictly to contain data within grids grids, like a calendar or spread sheet. Not for structural design and layout control purposes, as was the accepted method of developing web pages up until recently. The advent of CSS presentation has brought about a renascence of new and improved coding abilities such as; CSS driven XML with nothing in the .html document besides the actual content and simple containers.
